Ministry of Agriculture launches World Food Day Programme
The Ministry of Agriculture on Thursday, October, 9, 2025, launched a programme of activities leading up to World Food Day that is observed globally on October, 16.

“This celebration is about ensuring that we reduce hunger among the most vulnerable in our population no matter how small that number is,” Deputy Chief Agricultural Officer, Colville King, said at the launch on Thursday, October, 9, 2025.
Commenting on the issue of food and nutrition security during his address at the launch, King said the focus is to “…ensure that we deliver food in a way that is more available, accessible or affordable”.
Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), Dr Coleen Philips provided an historical overview of the FAO and highlighted some of the issues and challenges faced over the years.
