Creators Alliance crashes!

SVG members caught in the debris

by Eldonte Samuel

A UK-based network, Creators Alliance (CA), with footprints in several nations, including St Vincent and the Grenadines, has crashed leaving thousands of video producers expressing outrage and demanding accountability and answers about payment.

The managing staffs’ members received a release from the Finance Department less than three days prior, stating that they were to restart their withdrawal requests from March 31, and should allow up to 72 hours for their salaries to be credited to their accounts. However, the entity crashed before they could act on the instruction.

On Wednesday, April 2, Vincentians and other Caribbean nationals were livid having learnt several managers had left, and had deleted groups.

The first hint of problems came when people had difficulties withdrawing their funds. CA blamed this on tax filing and said the issue would be resolved when this was complete.

Many CA members turned to the social media platform, Facebook to express their frustration with the company, which prides itself on being a leader in short video content creation and distribution.

The group chats were used for communication between merchants and CA representatives across various countries in the Caribbean area, including St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, Dominica, The Bahamas, and Puerto Rico, regarding their funds, and updates related to the Creators Alliance app.

It is believed that more than 50,000 people were recruited by the Creators Alliance.

There were multiple WhatsApp group chats; one had close to 1,100 members, including individuals from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Lucia, and the United Kingdom.

On Wednesday, someone, allegedly a manager of the company, attempted to reassure members in a statement that the app had not crashed, but was instead transitioning to a new system “that will greatly enhance security, efficiency, and overall user experience”.

This individual claimed to have spoken with the founder, Mark Eddo, who confirmed that the issues stemmed from the system transitioning, and apologized for the inconvenience.
