Woman in van accident thanks God she left her baby at home (+ Video)

ONE OF the passengers who was in a van that overturned in Akers last Friday afternoon, February 17, is thanking God that she listened to the voice that told her not to carry her baby to Kingstown on that day.

Amanda Dorsette told SEARCHLIGHT on Monday, February 20, that if she had not listened to “that voice” her near two year old daughter, Safrie, could have been killed or seriously injured when the van overturned.

Dorsette said when the van flipped, several other passengers ended up on top of her.

“Everybody was trying to come out and all the weight was on me, and I just had to wait until I could get out.”

The Georgetown resident said she is sure that her baby may not have survived such trauma and being pinned under so much weight.

“It was God speaking to me on Friday morning, because, anywhere I go, I always have my baby with me.

“I wanted to take her to Kingstown with me and to purchase a pair of sandals for her,” Dorsette explained.

The young woman recounted changing her mind about taking the child as she prepared to go into the city.

“While getting ready, something told me no, do not take her to town, send her to day care instead.”

At that time, Dorsette said she did not understand the reason for the instructions, but since the accident, everything makes sense to her now.

“I am happy that I obeyed and that I did not take my daughter,” she stressed, “the heavy weight that came down on me when the van overturned would have been too much for my baby. It was God speaking to me,” Dorsette related.

Little Safrie James will celebrate her 2nd birthday on Wednesday, February 22.
