SEARCHLIGHT’s Newman shoots Best Sports Photograph for 2019

SEARCHLIGHT’s Edward Newman, from the lens of the adjudicators, shot the best sports photograph for 2019.

He was announced as the winner at the 2019 National Lotteries Authority National Sports Awards, which came off last Saturday night at the auditorium of the SVG Community College.

It was a shot from the at the 2019 OECS Swimming Championships, held last November at the Shrewsbury Aquatic Centre (SAC) that did the trick.

The photograph was published in the November 15 edition of SEARCHLIGHT.

According to a release from the National Sports Council, prior to last Saturday’s ceremony, “The photograph submitted must provide evidence of it having been published within the year 2019”.

Having an eye for special sports photographs, Newman was also the 2018 winner.

Newman has been SEARCHLIGHT’s sports photographer since 2010.

Meanwhile, Xavel Williams, who operates 784 Sports,a Facebook page, was handed the Sports Journalist of the Year award.
