‘Christmas good turn’ continues to provide meals for the community
Over the past four years, the poor and indigent of Kingstown have been treated to a grand Christmas lunch at the Catholic Soup Kitchen.
A good turn ‘is doing something for someone without asking for anything in return’.

And this “Christmas good turn” is brainchild of Latoya De Roche-John, proprietor of Joche Moments.
It has become a highly anticipated event, not only to the indigent but to the residents of Rose Place and surrounding areas.
This year, the event was held on Tuesday, December 17 and guests were treated to lunch and also given ‘care packages’.
They were serenaded by violinist, Darron Andrews and the XS Steel Inc. Steel Orchestra. Guides of the #28 Guide Company of the St Joseph’s Convent Kingstown were also present to serve food to guests.
DeRoche-John and her team, which includes Donamie Providence, Dorette Luthers Mayers and Duel Andrews, extend special thanks to the individual donors, the Young Island Resort and The Sunset Shores Hotel for their invaluable contributions.
And persons interested in making a contribution to next year’s project can contact DeRoche-John at 1(784) 431-5079.
