Vincentian woman found murdered in Toronto

Police investigators in Toronto say they have found “a number of items of evidentiary value” that they think will assist in the investigation of the murder of Vincentian Virgil Kamal Jack-Jordan.

And while the police in Toronto are doing their jobs, Virgil’s mother, Susan Jack, is praying for justice for her slain daughter.

“I am very hurt and distressed, but by the grace of God, I will see this through,” Susan told SEARCHLIGHT on Monday from her home at Langley Park.

Virgil’s body was found last Saturday, August 19, in North York’s Derrydowns Park, near Jane and Finch around 12:45 p.m., by a woman who frequents the park because of its solitude.

The woman found Virgil slightly submerged in water and tried to render aid. A post mortem examination done on Sunday found Virgil suffered multiple stab wounds.

She was last seen at around 2:30 p.m. in the Jane and Finch area on Friday, August 18.

Virgil is originally from Langley Park, a village on the Windward side of St Vincent.

Susan said Virgil was the fourth of nine children and that her daughter migrated in the 1990s, but came home last year and got married, and was making plans for her husband to join her in Canada.

“I don’t know who would want to hurt her. She was a nice person, but a person who liked speaking her mind. She loved to joke and she loved friends,” said Susan of her daughter.

Virgil and one of her sisters and her sister’s nine-month-old daughter lived together in Canada and when Susan spoke to Virgil last week, her now deceased daughter told her that she would miss her sister and her niece, as they were scheduled to return home yesterday, Thursday, August 24.

Virgil, 31, also known as “White Girl”, worked as a nursing aide in Toronto. She is a past student of the Georgetown Government School (GSS) and the St Joseph’s Convent Kingstown (SJCK).(LC)
