Making porn video was a mistake, says teacher’s mother

Patricia Kerr, the mother of the 22-year-old teacher whose porn video went viral last week, is standing by her daughter.

“I am not afraid to say she is my daughter… I am not ashamed to say she is my daughter… I am proud of her and I will always be proud of her,” Kerr commented to SEARCHLIGHT yesterday, Monday, May 29.

The six-minute-long, locally shot porn video, features the Byera teacher and a local popular dreadlocked barber, who goes by the name ‘jaybrittishlife784’ on the social media platform Instagram.

Patricia revealed, during an interview, that her daughter told her the video was filmed by Alexander Christopher John, who goes by the moniker ‘Lil Chris’, a DJ with Vincentian and Barbadian ties, who lives in the United States.

The police have been called in and the Byera woman says that she would like the person or persons responsible for leaking her daughter’s sex tape to be punished to the full extent of the law.

She says that she sees her daughter as a victim, someone who was taken advantage of and tricked.

“We are all humans and we all make mistakes in life,” said the single mother, who revealed that the young lady in the video is her only child and she has emails and screenshots that could prove her daughter was pressured into doing the video.

“The child did not go there to do that. I did not watch it; I don’t want to watch it. They only have out what they want. When the child was telling them not to do it… they don’t have that. They only put what is pleasing to the public,” said the angry mother who thinks that the release of the video was done to damage her daughter’s reputation and fuel the monster that is social media.

“They put out the part that would allow persons to gravitate towards social media, but the most important part of the video, nobody has that,” said Patricia, who noted that her daughter told her that she met Lil Chris while he was a student at the St Vincent Grammar School (SVGS) and she was attending the Girls’ High School (GHS).

Explaining how her daughter ended up in a room being taped having sex, Patricia said that the young woman was told that the videographer worked for a company that was selling swimwear and lingerie and he wanted a model. She said that her daughter loves swimsuits and is an avid collector of beachwear, so she jumped at the opportunity to pose.

“She agreed to do a shoot in lingerie and swimwear, but after she finished doing, that Lil Chris told her she had to do a nude shoot… She said no, but he told her she has to do it and she was in a room with two doors and the doors were locked… now look at it this way, you as a young person, you between two males. What could you do?”

She said that last week, at the office of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the barber and her daughter were placed in the same room and he said that people were ridiculing him.

“He told her that if people were behaving so with him, he can imagine what she is going through and how she is feeling,” said Patricia.

She said also that there are rumours circulating that her daughter was paid US$800, but that is not the case and when her daughter messaged the videographer on Facebook and asked for the lingerie and swimwear photos, she was told that they had been deleted.

“He deleted the swimwear photos and kept the nudes and the video. I understand that he tried it with other girls… I want the full extent of the law to come down on the person who recorded the video,” said Patricia.

Giving advice to young people, Patricia advises, “think twice, things come and may seem real, but behind it, is fake. You have to think. With my daughter, she should use this as a stepping stone to counsel other young persons to encourage them to stay away from these type of things”.

She added, “the Bible says out of evil cometh good. I am not here to pull down or tear down anybody. I am a mother. It could have happened to anybody and what I am saying, who running them mouth, some of them out there doing worse than her. They did worse than that”.

Patricia said her daughter was brought up going to church and people must realize that everybody makes mistakes.

“Today for me, tomorrow for you… I can’t go against my child; she is the victim. She did not commit an offence. The offence is who leaked the video. I’m not swearing for my child, but seriously, I don’t know how she get caught in that. It’s just because of the swimwear,” Patricia reasoned, noting that her daughter’s boyfriend is sticking by her.

“I am a proud mother and I would stand up in the public and say I am a proud mother. She make me proud… I have gone through rough times with her; she did not let me down… from High School, to Community College, to Teacher’s College, to teaching.

“The emails are there; I read them. He promised to take her to Bequia for a photo shoot, but she turned it down; that is why he leaked the video, I think. My daughter own went viral, but what about the ones that did it numerous times and it never went viral? In our days growing up, if they had social media, a lot of us would have been on it too,” said Patricia, who encourages persons who may have a daughter or daughters to ask themselves this question: suppose it was your daughter, how would you react?

“Some of them would have called their children all kind of names, but all I told her is, hold your head up high.”

The saleswoman also revealed that the video was shot before her daughter became a primary school teacher, but she has since been asked by the Ministry of Education not to return to the classroom and that she will be placed somewhere else to work.

“She was not fired; she is waiting on a call from them (Ministry of Education) … she has nothing to worry about with me by her side; it’s my child,” stressed Patricia, who added that since the video went public, she has never ridiculed her daughter.

“I did not put her down, I did not tear her apart. I tell her I love her as usual. I told her even though you are out of a job, I am there for you, because even before she was working, she had her mommy,” said Patricia, who thinks that a lot of other young persons could have made the same mistake.

“…any young person and you hear is a photo shoot, you’re young and you want to explore, but you don’t know what would be the outcome,” Patricia said.
