Over $21,000 more missing from Registry – Report

More than $21,000 from the mediation programme of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court cannot be accounted for.

This disclosure was made by the director of Audit, Dahalia Sealey, in a report which gives the findings of investigations into allegations of misappropriation of funds by the former registrar of the High Court Vanessa Tamara Gibson-Marks.{{more}}

The funds which have gone missing from the mediation programme are in addition to approximately $360,000 withdrawn over several months, from the St Vincent Cooperative Bank, for matters which appear unrelated to cases being settled by the court.

According to a usually reliable source, the director of Auditor’s report also said $190,000 of the $360,000 had been repaid to the trust account at the St Vincent Cooperative Bank, while $170,000 remains unaccounted for.

At a press briefing yesterday, Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves said Sealey’s report was presented to him, Attorney General Judith Jones-Morgan and the Commissioner of Police on July 30.
