Two men killed in Evesham drive-by

Gunfire erupted in the village of Evesham last night, leaving two men dead and two others nursing injuries.

Dead are: Benjamin “Bradee” Jackson, a farmer said to be in his fifties and Duane “Puppy/Bunker” Robinson, 30 – both of Evesham.{{more}}

When SEARCHLIGHT visited the crime scene about 30 minutes after the shootings, police had already cordoned off the area and were observed combing the area for evidence, as the two dead men lay on the ground.

Reports are that shortly after 7:30 p.m, the deceased, along with others, were just outside a shop in the Windsor Gap area, when a gold coloured car drove by and its occupants began spraying bystanders with bullets.

Jackson and Robinson died on the spot, while another man, who SEARCHLIGHT understands goes by the name “Dirta,” was shot in the leg. A fourth man was also shot and is said to be in critical condition at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.

A number of persons, including some relatives of the deceased, who had gathered behind the cordoned off area, declined to comment. However, one person told SEARCHLIGHT that Jackson was a peaceful man who worked hard.

“He didn’t have to die so. He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time,” the person, who spoke under the condition of anonymity said.

Another person said that approximately 12 shots were fired from the vehicle before it sped off into the night. (KW)
