Vincentian caught with £100,000 worth of cocaine in England

A suitcase with 2.4 kilograms of cocaine, estimated to be worth £100,000 by the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency (NCA), has landed a Union Island man in prison in England.{{more}}

Bastien Corris Steve Dember appeared at the Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, August 9, charged that on Monday, August 8, he attempted to smuggle, through Gatwick Airport, an illegal Class A drug.

Dember arrived in London from St Lucia and was nabbed as he tried to clear customs.

The 24-year-old, who also holds Italian citizenship, had the drug sewn into the lining of a suitcase.

When he appeared in court, he pleaded guilty to importing the cocaine and is currently awaiting sentencing.
