Loving Your Hair
Our hair goes through a lot, from gels/hairsprays, heat appliances, styling and just our climate. Whether we are rocking a natural do or relaxed, letâs take some time to give our hair some love.
At home Hot Oil treatments are a fantastic way to add some much needed oils and moisture to our locks, choosing from either olive or coconut oil. The amount depends on the length of your hair. Warm the oil and apply liberally to your hair, making sure to pay attention to your ends, which tend to be dryer. Use a comb or your fingers to make sure the oil is well distributed. Wrap in a snug plastic shower cap or a plastic bag, as Iâm sure most of us are more known to use. Let the oil set for about 1 hour, massaging intermittently if you so desire; then simply wash.
Another great treatment option is to combine 2 egg yolks, 2 tbsp olive or coconut oil and 1 cup water. Whisk thoroughly and apply to hair, wrap in plastic and leave for about 30 minutes, then wash.{{more}}
Donât be afraid of getting your hair ends trimmed maybe every 6-8 weeks. Only about 1/2 to 1 inch is necessary to help prevent and deal with split ends that can travel up the hair shaft, doing serious damage.
Letâs try to hold off on the heating appliances by letting our hair air dry or even hairstyles that do not require heat. But if that canât happen, make sure to use heat protection serums. Donât over wash your hair… instead of shampooing you can co-wash (condition wash) your hair, especially if it isnât too dirty. Try them, and show your hair some love.
