Sir Cecil ignited my desire to become a surgeon

Mr Dominic Sprott
Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon

It is with sadness that I write this tribute to Sir Arthur Cecil Cyrus, a great man and son of the soil, who led a very productive life, leaving an indelible mark on St Vincent and the lives of so many that he helped and touched.

He was my doctor as a child, later becoming my mentor and eventually having the privilege of his friendship.

He allowed me to attend his clinics and operating theatres where he introduced me to the Art of Surgery and ignited my desire to become a surgeon. He was later instrumental in guiding and advising me along my career path as an orthopaedic surgeon.

I will miss my visits and conversations with him and Aunt Kathryn over tea when ever I visit St Vincent. My deepest sympathies to her and their family. Let us not only mourn his loss but celebrate his life and many achievements.

Condolences.
