Sports Minister to seek re-election to SVG Cricket Association’s Executive
Except there is a change of heart, Minister of Youth, Sports, Culture and Creative Industries, Kaschaka Cupid will be seeking re-election to the executive of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association Inc., whenever the Elective Annual General Meeting is convened.
Cupid’s intention as well as that of other sitting executive members was communicated in correspondence signed by secretary, Samuel Holder dated January 26, 2026.
Holder’s letter sated that: “The Association also takes this opportunity to express sincere appreciation to Treasurer Jenry Ollivierre for more than a decade of dedicated service to the organization; he has indicated that he will not be available for election in the upcoming meeting. All other current Executive
Members have indicated their willingness to continue serving for the upcoming term”.
Apart from Ollivierre, the rest of the executive, elected September 2023, comprises President, Dougal
James; First Vice President, Kaschaka Cupid; General Secretary, Samuel Holder; Assistant Secretary-Treasurer, Cleton Burnett; along with Committee Members Elron Lewis, Samantha Lunch, Rawdon Bentick, and Jerome Dick.
Now a government minister following the November 27, 2025 general elections, Cupid won the West St George Constituency on a New Democratic Party ticket.
Should Cupid make good of his intentions and is re-elected, it will be an anomaly in local modern cricket administration.
