Safe Sports Commission launches ‘Safety Bridge’ talk show
THE ST.VINCENT AND the Grenadines Olympic Committee’s (SVGOC) Safe Sports Commission has officially launched ‘Safety Bridge’.
This is a new podcast initiative, relayed virtually, that is designed to bridge the gap between sports and safety across the sporting community.The pilot episode premiered on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at the SVGOC’s offices at Villa Point.
This episode brought together key regional and national sports leaders for an engaging and timely discussion on safeguarding in sport.
Erin Kennedy, Regional Development Manager, Rugby Americas North; Dellon D. Durrant, President, SVG Rugby Union; and Natasha Baptiste-Samuel, President, SVG Netball Association, were the featured guests, with Neeka Anderson-Isaacs guiding the discussions.
The guest speakers delved into building safer sporting environments; the responsibility of sporting organisations; and the importance of leadership in promoting athlete welfare, inclusion, and accountability.
Carded to be held on the second Thursday of each month, the next edition of the talk show will therefore take place on Thursday, February 12, 2026.
On the panel will be Keith Joseph, Akin John and Roxell John, who will expound on the topic, “Beyond the Game: Sport as a Platform for Safety Education.”
Chair of the Safe Sports Commission, Shimano Bailey, will moderate the second talk show.
Bailey, in his capacity underlined that the commission sets out to provide a consistent platform for open dialogue, education, and awareness around safeguarding and safe sport practices in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the wider region.
With the aim to give a new perspective to keep sports a safe haven for all, Bailey note that: “ The SVGOC Safe Sports Commission encourages all stakeholders, athletes, administrators, parents, coaches, and the wider public, to tune in and be part of the conversation as we work collectively to create safer, healthier, and more inclusive sporting environments”.
