Defending Blaze champions confident of strong title defence in SVG
DEFENDING T20 champions, Guyana, are confident of a strong defense of their title when they compete in the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Regional Women’s T20 Blaze, and then to put up a strong challenge in the CWI Regional 50-over Championship in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).
The Guyanese women left in high spirits after completing a six-day intensive encampment split between the Everest Cricket Ground in Georgetown and the Lusignan Cricket Ground on the East Coast of Demerara.
The programme focused on sharpening technical skills, improving tactical execution, boosting fitness levels and engaging in match-simulation exercises as part of preparations for the demanding regional campaign.
Head Coach, Tremaine Smartt, and Deputy Coach, Clive Grimmond, will oversee the campaign, with experienced
West Indies international Shemaine Campbelle captaining the side. Campbelle’s leadership, combined with the squad’s growing depth, is expected to be a major asset as Guyana navigates a competitive field featuring Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago,Windward Islands and Leeward Islands.(Starbroek News)
