SVG Basketball Federation hosts final Youth Camp in Petit Bordel today

After what it said were two successful Youth Basketball Camps held so far, the St Vincent and the Grenadines Basketball Federation (SVGBF) makes its third stop in Petit Bordel from today, August 5, 2025.

The third and final summer camp of the year will take place at the Petit Bordel Hard Court and runs until August, 8, 2025 starting at 9:30 a.m and concluding at 11:30 a.m.each day.

With “generous support from the National Olympic Committee (NOC)” the SVGBF said in a release that it was able “to deliver a fun, educational and energetic week of basketball fundamental to aspiring youth athletes from across the country,” at the two camps which ran simultaneously from Monday, July 21 to Friday, July 25, 2025. At the camp held at the New Montrose Hard Court, 28 children and youth participated, and there were 34 at the camp that was held at the Langley Park Hard Court.

“Boys and girls came together to learn skills such as dribbling, shooting, passing and more. The camps were guided by guest coaches many of whom represented the country through basketball in various capacities and speakers from successful businesses,” the SVGBA stated. On the final day, campers from both locations were brought together to participate in mini games and activities.

With the Windward Island School Games (WISG) having been staged in SVG, concluding last weekend, the SVGBA said it was particularly encouraged to bring about a new generation of enthusiastic and talented players, building their confidence and a love for the sport of basketball.

The SVBGA expects to engage 25 youngsters at the Petit Bordel camp but said none would be turned away if more than 25 turn up. Youngsters between 5-18 years of age have been engaged in the camps, which are being offered free of cost, and held under the theme: ‘Building citizenship through Sports’
