Only two gold medals for host SVG in Windwards Schools Athletics

TERON MUCKETTE GAVE St Vincent and the Grenadines its second gold medal on Saturday, July 26, 2025 with a clearance of 1.90 metres in the Boys high jump, in the athletics competition of the 2025 Windward Islands School Games, currently underway here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG). Muckette also won bronze, this time in the Boys long jump, with a leap of 6.63 metres, behind silver medallist Jeriah Lewis of Dominica who cleared 6.70 metres, and Shaqua Toussaint of Grenada who won gold with a leap of 7.14 metres.

St Vincent and the Grenadines’ other gold medal came by way of Shaquania Jacobs in the Girls 200 metres in a time of 24.98 seconds. She also took the bronze medal in the Girls 400 metres with a time of 58.34 seconds.

Other medallists for St Vincent and the Grenadines are Kesiann John with silver in the Girls 800 metres in a time of 2 minutes 26.79 seconds, and silver in the Girls 1,500 metres with a time of 5 minutes 15.18 seconds.

The Vincentian quartet of Kenisha Richards, Juneka Quow, Ketonna Campbell, and Shaquania Jacobs, took the silver medal in the Girls 4X100 metres relay with a time of 50.15 seconds, with Grenada winning the gold, and Saint Lucia the bronze medal.

Their male counterparts of Glenroy Layne, Jadelle Hector, Kyle Derrick, and Keo Davis, clocked 42.09 seconds to take silver in the Boys 4X100 metres.

Vincentian Tocarra Barbour won the Girls discus throw silver with 32.23 metres.

In the Boys 100 metre dash, St Vincent and the Grenadines’ Keo Davis, and Grenada’s Stanislaus Mark both breasted the tape simultaneously in a time of 10.71 seconds to share the silver medal.

Ethan Sam of Grenada took the gold medal in a time of 10.69 seconds.

Leemore Ollivierre won silver for the hosts in the Boys 400 metres with a time of 47.81 seconds, while Zichri Hepburn took the Boys 800 metres bronze medal in a time of 2 minutes 01.24 seconds.

Hepburn, however won the silver medal in the Boys 1,500 metres in a time of 4 minutes 13.05 seconds, and another silver medal for the hosts as part of the Boys 4×400 metres, clocking a time of 2 minutes 29.04 seconds.

The Vincentians amassed a total of 207 points to finish fourth in the four-island competition. Dominica finished with 215 points to take the third spot, Saint Lucia was second with 220 points, and winning the athletics is Grenada with 317 points.

Meanwhile, after four days of action, hosts St Vincent and the Grenadines was undefeated in both football and netball, respectively.

In netball, Saint Lucia was beaten 49 – 12 on Monday night July, 28, and on Tuesday, July 29, the Vincentians handed the much fancied Grenadians a 32 – 28 defeat.

In football, St Vincent and the Grenadines won over Dominica 2-1 on Sunday evening at the Brighton Playing Field, and at the same venue on Tuesday afternoon, they defeated Saint Lucia 2 – 1 in the battle of the saints.

After day four of action, St. Vincent and the Grenadines sits on top of the points table in football and netball, but are bottom in girls’ basketball, boys’ basketball, girls’ volleyball, boys’ volleyball, and track and field.

In the 2025 CBN / WINLOTT Windward Islands School Games overall point’s standings, Grenada sits top of the leaderboard with 37 points, Dominica second with 35 points, Saint Lucia third with 21 points, and St Vincent and the Grenadines fourth with 19 points.
