Owia Strikers get first lien on Greiggs T/10 Softball Cricket title

OWIA STRIKERS ARE the 2025 Caesar’s Real Estate Greiggs Nar Fren Dem T/10 Softball Cricket title holders.

A 20-run win over RSVG Police last Sunday, July 27, at the Greiggs Central Playing Field, landed the team from ‘Over the River’ the winner’s trophy and $1,500.

Owia Strikers got to 117 for 5 from their maximum 10 overs.

Eventual Player of the Final, Hyron Shallow, hit 2 fours and half dozen sixes, in his 49.

Denson Hoyte and Osnet Cato each scored 22. In reply, Police were held up at 97 for 5 from their 10 overs. Rickel Stapleton lashed 37, while Denson Hoyte took 3 for 17, bowling for Owia Strikers.

Police thus had to settle for the runner-up spot, gaining $1,000 and a trophy.

Sion Hill Tallawahs placed third, earning $500 and a trophy.

Taking the Player of the Competition award was Owia Strikers’ Dillon Douglas who scored 93 runs and took six wickets.

Like Douglas, Desron Maloney of Police who did not appear in the final because of national cricket duties, was not

on hand to collect his award for scoring the most runs. Maloney scored 205 runs. Jelani Danzell of RSVG Police took the most wickets, 8. RSVG Police were adjudged the Most Disciplined Team.

It will not be a long layoff for the teams as they will soon be engaged in the 20/20 format that is set to commence on Sunday, August 17, 2025.
