Sailing Association stages High Performance Training Clinic
The newly established High Performance Centre of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Sailing Association, located at Canash Beach was the venue for a High Performance Race Training Clinic, that took place from July 13-16, 2025.
The event brought together international youth sailors from Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Grenada, as well as those from St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) as they prepare for the Junior Pan Am Games.
With support from the SVG Olympic Committee and facilitated by Olympic Coach, Rob Holden, the clinic provided elite-level coaching in race tactics, boat handling, physical conditioning, and mental preparation, the association said in a release.
Reflecting on the clinic, Holden, who is a regular to St Vincent and the Grenadines, said, “The goal was to sharpen competitive skills and prepare athletes for the global stage”.
President of the SVG Sailing Association, Jenny Trumble, in her assessment of the clinic, said, “This is a major step forward for sailing in St Vincent and the Grenadines. By bringing Olympic-level coaching to our shores and supporting athletes on the path to the Junior Pan Am Games, we’re putting SVG firmly on the international sailing map”.
Trumble thus believed that the clinic served as a pointer towards St Vincent and the Grenadines’ long- term vision to develop the country as a regional centre for high performance sailing, by providing opportunities for youth sailors across the Caribbean to train, compete, and grow.
