National Track and Field athletes crowned at weekend Championships
Team Athletics SVG held its National Championships last Saturday, July 19, and Sunday July 20, 2025, at the Diamond Track Facility, crowning a weekend of fierce competition.
After two days the respective national champions were crowned, and would now reign until 2026.
Women’s Champions
Taking the 100m for women was Mustangs’ Teia Laborde. She timed 12.14s; with Shaquania Jacobs of X-Ceed Sports Club installed as the 200m champion. Her time was 24.71s.
Annecia Richards of IT DAT Academy, is the 400m champion, with a 58.02s clocking.
Kesiann John secured the 800m in 2:32, and also took the 1500m, returning a time of 5:33.14.
Amaia Edwards of X- Ceed Sports Club also did the double, winning the Long Jump in 5.26m, then adding the Triple Jump title with a leap of 10.49m.
Claiming the Shot Putt was Tashanique Francis of High Performance who threw 8.59m, while Lau Browne ran 13.72s to take the 100m Hurdles.
X- Ceed Sports Club’s Toccara Barbour threw 30.65m to win the Discus.
High Performance A won the 4x 100m in 50.24s and IT – DAT Academy, the 4x 400m in 4:13.21.
Men’s champions
X- Cel Track Club’s Mc Kish Compton is the new national 100m champion; while Mustangs’ AJ Delpesche won the male title, stopping the clock at 21.36s; and the Men’s 400m was won by Brandon Valentine- Parris, also of IT DAT Academy,whose time was 47.33s.
The Men’s Long Jump was won by Romaul James of High Performance with a leap of 6.66m. James also won the Triple Jump at 14.91m.
Meanwhile, X- Ceed Sports Club also copped the Men’s High Jump through Trevel Sylvan (1.96m). High Performance’s Kirk Hamblett won the Men’s Shot Putt with a distance of 13.28m, and the Men’s 4x 100m in 42.64s. Likewise, IT DAT Academy won the Men’s 4x 400m in 3:17.29.
Zichri Hepburn of Mustangs took the Men’s 1500m in 4:27.88.
Handal Roban competing for Penn State University won the Men’s 800m in 1:46.13; while IT DAT Academy’s Andre Spencer won the Men’s Discus throwing 48.15m.
The championships were also graced by the participation of athletes from Velocity and Fuzion of Grenada, as well as a representative from the Penn State University, and a duo from Paraguay.
