Savante Padmore lands Junior CASA Under-11 title
Savante Padmore took the Boys Under-11 title of the 2025 Junior Caribbean Area Squash Association Championships, when he defeated Zion Hickerson of Guyana 11-6, 8-11, 11-7, 11-5 in the finals last Tuesday, July, in the Cayman Islands.
His pathway to the title, saw him defeating Barbadian, Rafael Brathwaite 11-2, 11-3, 11-4; and downing Trinidad and Tobago’s Evan Ghuran 11-2, 11-1, 11-5.
It was a good comeback for Padmore who had to settle for the consolation title in 2024.
In his debut year- 2023- Padmore placed fourth after losing his semi- final match and his third place play off encounter.
Meanwhile, St Vincent and the Grenadines had a third place in the Under-11 Boys, with Zavin Garrick, snapping the bronze from Trinidad and Tobago’s Evan Ghuran. Garrick won the play-off 11-0, 11-7, 9-11, 11-3.
Garrick moved through the rounds but faltered at the semi-final stage, losing to Hickerson 5-11, 10-12, 4-11.
The other bronze medal for the Vincentian contingent was procured by Aiden De Freitas, who won over Adrina Vera of the Cayman Islands 11-3, 10-12, 11-9, 11-6.
In all St Vincent and the Grenadines won two first places via Jayden George and Padmore, as well as the two third places via Garrick and De Freitas.
St Vincent and the Grenadines was also represented at the championships by Ethan Webster in the Boys Under-11, and Deron Lewis in the Boys Under-17.
