Mitres was hungry to win Netball title says coach

Team unity has been highlighted as a main pillar that helped Mitres netball team snatch the Division One title in the 2025 national netball championship.

“Mitres netball team has always been a family,” coach, Natasha Baptiste told SEARCHLIGHT.

“ Over the years we have had our successes and failures, but we stuck together. This year is no different and we had a mission … to defend firstly our league title, and secondly, push towards being crowned double champion,” in the Bank of St Vincent and the Grenadines-sponsored tournament which ran from March, 22, to May, 31, 2025.

“We have an all-rounded team and our bench is deep. Our guiding principle has always been to put God first and then we go with His coverage to execute. We support each other; when we make mistakes we encourage each other to go hard again. We live by the motto ‘teamwork makes the dream work’ and that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us,” Baptiste outlined.

She gave credit to the team that was “hungry” to win the title, noting that “everyone showed up when called upon at every game.”

Baptiste has identified increased training as a unit so that Mitres “can become even more unstoppable”.

Mitres played undefeated throughout the tournament, ending with 16 points. The team played 8 matches, scored 442 goals, and had 199 goals scored against them.

Placing second in Division One was On Trac X-Ceed One which ended the tournament on 12 points, with Maple netball team taking the third position, ending on 8 points.
