Hope International FC scores big on Goals for Life initiative

The hierarchy of Hope International Football Club has been lauded for its Goals for Life initiative, in concert with the Liberty Lodge Boys Training Centre (LLBTC).

The initiative saw members of the club journeying to the Green Hill Playing Field for 10 weeks, providing life skills, through the medium of Football.

Other than learning the principles of Football, the carefully crafted programme indulged the boys in physical fitness, teamwork, and personal development, while gaining meaningful insights into how to structure a training session. They also received mentorship via team-building activities.

All good things came to an end last Saturday, May, 24, 2025, at the Comsports Facility, Arnos Vale, with an official closing ceremony, which was preceded by a football match between the LLBTC and a select team from a Hope International’s Under-15 team.

Lauding the efforts of the club which is celebrating 30 years of existence, was Social Worker attached to the LLBTC, Janeil George.

“We are really thankful [to] Hope International for coming out and giving back to our boys in this capacity. Overall, the entire programme was welcoming for the boys. Football is a sport that they all love and enjoy. It helped in areas such as their teamwork [and] camaraderie,” George commented.

Looking forward to that continued collaboration and big brother approach, George said, “We have had talks of continuing at some point, but I am hoping that they can continue in the area of mentoring, because our boys need that encouragement”.

Meanwhile, President of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation, Otashie Spring who addressed the closing ceremony, told those present from LLBTC that they were blessed to have an organization such as Hope International in their corner.

“It is a club that has deep legacy, vast wealth of history and for them to be in your corner and lending that kind of support and standing in the gap for you, it is something you are blessed to have.”

Highlighting the need for organisations to exhibit a social side of their operations, Spring added, “We have to ensure that it is not all about the game on the field, but we have to live up to that responsibility to our communities and to its prospects, and showing homage to social responsibilities is highly commendable and stands tall within our agenda”.

Included in the closing were presentation of certificates to all who participated in the programme, with the stand outs specially acknowledged and recompensed with trophies.
