George Stephen’s take Secondary Schools’ Under-19 Cricket Title

THE GEORGE STEPHENS Senior Secondary School are the 2025 St Vincent and the Grenadines Secondary School Under-19 Cricket champions following a 91-run defeat of the Central Leeward Secondary School in the finals played on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at the Park Hill Playing Field.

Batting first, the George Stephens Senior Secondary School scored 179 all out in 28.2 overs, led by Jawayne Adams, 71; with support from Gasley Henson,19; and Kason Hoyte,18.There were 38 extras.

Trent Williams led the bowling for Central Leeward taking 3 for 16 He received good support from Damali Phillips, 3 for 33; Jorden Charles 1 for 18; Watson Seaton 1 for 21; Lebron Douglas 1 for 38; and Jamaine Keil 1 for 45.

In response, Central Leeward Secondary batters were never allowed to settle and had difficulty handling the pace of left-arm seamer Elran Glasgow, who finished with 3 for 8.

Ahmaud Williams was even more incisive finishing with figures of 5 overs, 12 runs, 4 wickets.

The other wicket taker was Jawayne Adams who had 3 for 15, as the George Stephens bowlers tore through the Central Leeward school’s batting. They were all out for 88 in 18.4 overs.

Watson Seaton topscored with 24, Lebron Douglas made 17, and Jorden Charles contributed 14, with extras adding 16 to the Central Leeward Secondary School’s cause.

Following the conclusion of the finals, a number of individual awards were handed out as follows: Jawayne Adams of the George Stephens Senior Secondary School, best wicketkeeper; Alston Bobb jr, St Vincent Grammar School, most runs. Bobb also took the award for the only century scored in the competition.

Zack Thomas of the St.Vincent Grammar School and Shemaiah Nanton of the Georgetown Secondary School shared the award for most wickets.

For his top score of 71, and 3 wickets for 15, Jaywayne Adams received the MVP award.
