TBPO Softball Cricket begins in earnest
The 2025 edition of the National Lotteries Authority TBPO T/20 Softball Cricket Competition, began in earnest last weekend, Saturday May 10, and Sunday May 11, at the Dauphine Playing Field.
Tasting the first joy of victory on Saturday was Gomea Bombers, who defeated East Kingston by eight wickets.
A late start saw the match being reduced to 15 overs, with East Kingstown bundled out for 41 in 7.4 overs. In reply, Gomea Bombers registered 47 for 2 in 4 overs.
Saturday’s second match saw Dauphine United beating Duck Squad United by 44 runs.
Dauphine United posted 139 for 9 in 20 overs, with Juan Laborde and Michael Hope, each scoring 26.
Bowling for Duck Squid, Jabari Guy took 5 for 39, and Dante Williams picked up 2 for 20.
Duck Squad United responded with 95 all out in 16.2 overs; Keswick Daniel 34 not out.
Baldwin Dabique 3 for 27; Maclean Brown 2 for 23; and Osborne Franklyn 2 for 26, were Dauphine United’s most successful bowlers.
Sunday’s matches which were affected by rain, saw Dr Thomas Injectors and Young Stallions notching up wins, while the other game ended in no decision.
Injectors overcame Hill Top by nine wickets in a match reduced to 10 overs per side.
Hill Top scored 59 for 5, from their 10 overs. Keymo Browne scalped 3 for 14, bowling for Injectors, who reached 64 for 1 from just 4.2 overs. Jevon Nero made 28, and Rokeem Roberts was 22 not out.
Then,Young Stallions got the better of Bank of SVG All Stars by nine runs.
Young Stallions amassed 183 for 2 in 19 overs. Bradley Richards made 56 not out; Terrance Patterson 49 not out; and Kentish Phillips 48.
All Stars made 174 all out in 18.1 overs- Newborne Joseph, 51; and Courtney Mc Dowall, 47.
Bowling forYoung Stallions, Azmon Forbes had 3 for 45; Bradley Richards 2 for 19; and Kentish Phillips 2 for 37.
There was no result between Kombat Warriors and AIA Reload.
When rain ended play, Reload was 34 for 6, with Kamal Jackson snaring 3 for 8.
