Quashie leaves competitors in the dust at Rapid Chess
TRUMAN QUASHIE PROVED to be the quickest and most accurate player, topping the other 11 competitors when the St Vincent and the Grenadines Chess Federation’s Rapid Tournament was held last Sunday, April 27, 2025, at the Expert Computer Centre Conference Room.
In getting past his opponents, Quashie was the winner on 5-points, after five rounds of play.
Trailing him by some distance in second place was Terrence Latchman on 4 points, and Oris Robinson on 3 points taking up position number three.
Valbrun Harry finished fourth; Ronnia Durham-Balcombe placed fifth; Carlos Veira took the sixth position and Arianna Balcombe ended in the eighth position.
Taking up the rear end positions were Rodney Grant,Taien Harry, Zion Grant, Orisha Robinson, and Krislin Harry.
The one day Blitz Tournament mandated that matches be completed within a 30 minute time frame which gives participants a greater challenge. Tournament Director, Brian Cottle said the Blitz Tournament will be even a faster engagement than the Rapid Tournament.
