North Central Windward teams boss Schools’ Volleyball
THE GEORGE STEPHENS Senior Secondary are the new champions of schools’ Female Volleyball, while the Georgetown Secondary continued their successive lien on the male category, when the schools’ Volleyball Competition concluded last Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the Girls’ High School hard court.

George Stephens dethroned the Bethel High School, who won in 2023, defeating them 25-17, 2325, 25-11.
Meanwhile, Georgetown Secondary, who has not lost a male final since 2015, warded off a spirited challenge from the St Vincent Grammar School, before trumping, 25-19, 25-23.
Georgetown’s reign spans 2015 to 2019.The 2020 edition was aborted, and there was no competition in 2021, 2022 and 2024.
In the female semi-finals, George Stephens had the better of Georgetown, 27-25, 20-25, 25-15, and Campden Park Secondary ousted St Joseph’s Convent Kingstown, 23-25, 25-17, 25-12.
Meanwhile, in the male semi-finals, Georgetown defeated Thomas Saunders, 25-10, 25-12; and the Grammar School stopped George Stephens, 25-19, 25-19.
Preceding the finals, Georgetown copped the female third place, overcoming St Joseph’s Convent, 25-17, 25-22, with George Stephens coming in third, with a 25-17, 25-18 win at the expense of Thomas Saunders Secondary.
The three top teams in both categories were presented with trophies and medals.
Also rewarded were the players of the finals, secured by Maxianna Dublin of George Stephens Secondary, and Damari Fredericks of the Georgetown Secondary.
At last Tuesday’s closing ceremony, President of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Volleyball Association, Gary Matthias, expressed confidence in stakeholders investing in the sport to help raise the standard of play at the level of the secondary schools.
Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr Orande Brewster called for the excellence of youths to continue to be highlighted, rather than the minority who carry out unlawful acts.
