Titles decided in Chatoyer Invitational Tennis Championships
TITLES IN THE Chatoyer Invitational Tennis Championships were decided last week at the National Tennis Centre at Villa.
When the COTTEC Under-14 segment ended on Wednesday July 31, 2024, Kittian Shreya Rawat defeated number one seed, Jaelyn Henry of St Lucia, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, to cop the Girls title. Taking the Girls Doubles title were Danelle Kennedy of St Vincent and the Grenadines and Jaelyn Henry of St Lucia, who trounced the Kittian duo of Lalla Harris and Shreya Rawat, 6-2, 6-4. Kennedy took the Girls Consolation title, beating fellow Vincentian, Madissen Gonsalves, 4-2, 4-2 in the decider.
Meanwhile, Dimitri Kirton of Barbados had a 7-5, 6-3 triumph over his brother, Dane Kirton, to scalp the Boys Singles title. However, the Kirton brothers were defeated in the Doubles finals, losing to Mateo Guitierez of El Salvador and Antigua and Barbuda’s Giovanni Quinn, 6-3, 6-1.
Winning the Boys Consolation was Jaiden Gormandy of Trinidad and Tobago who defeated Krish Puga of Cuba, 4-1, 5-4.
Among the Under-10s, played among Vincentian players, Zayden Charles won the Boys title, with Nakayda Cain taking the Girls. Charles and David Mei won the Combined Doubles, and Ezron Quashie was the Consolation winner.
Darryl Pope was adjudged the Most Improved Under-10 player.
In total, 32 players competed for honours. But it does not stop there, as St Vincent and the Grenadines will host the International Tennis Federation’s Under-18 Tournaments from August 5-9 and August 12-16, 2024.
These tournaments take place at the National Tennis Centre at Villa.
