Jaydon Williams takes CASA silver

Jaydon Williams who was seeded number one in the Boys Under-17 age group, had to settle for silver in the singles of the 2024 Junior Caribbean Area Squash Association(CASA) Championships in

Tortola, British Virgin Island.

Williams was beaten by Daniel Henderson of the British Virgin Islands 9-11, 11-9, 11-5, 6-11, 12-14, in a marathon encounter that lasted 56 minutes.

Williams had breezed through the phases after not playing in the first round having received a bye.

When he entered the fray Williams ousted Zevieh Abrahm of the host country 11-3, 11-3, 11-4, before dismissing Trinidad and Tobago’s Nicholas Lequay 11-4, 11-3, 11-6 in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Caeli George, scooped bronze in the Girls Under-13 age group.

Although they were not on the podium, the other Vincentians who competed at the championships, put in creditable efforts.

Among them was Savante Padmore, who took the consolation prize in the Boys Under-11.

The Vincentian team also comprised Zavin Garrick (Boys Under-11); Malachi Mac Master,(Boys

Under17); Ethan Webster (Boys Under-13); along with Naira Skye- Joh (Girls Under-15); Ciara

George (Girls Under-17); Zoe Martin (Girls Under-17); and Nadira Morgan ( Girls Under-19).

Amber Glasgow and Jules Snagg were the two coaches who guided the players during the championships.
