Deptor Culzac and sons scalp national Cycling titles
Deptor Culzac and his elder son, Gabriel Doyle, retained the Masters and Juniors categories respectively; and the younger of Culzac’s son, Emmanuel, took the Cadet category, when the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cycling Union staged the road race component of the National Cycling Championships last Sunday, June 9, 2024.
Senior Culzac’s winning time was in 2:14.14.40. He was ahead of Steve Olliviere, who had a 2: 33. 43.93 clocking, and Carlos Rivas was third in 2:33.47. 56.
Meanwhile, Emmanuel who rode from Georgetown to the Belmont Look Out, via the Calder main road, timed 1:11.40, as he cycled 14 miles.

Likewise, Gabriel was the lone competitor in the Junior segment, as he timed 2:07.34.53.
The Masters and Junior riders, started at the decommissioned E.T Joshua Airport Tarmac journeying to Langley Park, before ending at the Belmont Look Out, through the Calder road, a distance of 34 miles.
Apart from the Masters, Juniors and Cadets, Sunday morning’s race also featured the Elite category, which started the E.T Joshua Tarmac, headed northwards to Tourama, before ending at the Belmont Look Out, using the same route.
Topping the Elite category of the 41 mile race was Zefal Bailey, whose time was 2:14.08.42.
Sherwin James was second in a time of 2:20.0.43; and Lucky Antrobus, third in 2:29.07.49.
The previous day the cyclists competed in a Time Trial from Arnos Vale to Belvedere.
Clocking the fastest time among the seniors was Zefal Bailey in 10: 53.05, ahead of Sherwin James’ 12:04.91. Next was Deptor Culzac in 12:21.69; Steve Ollivierre; 12:47.62; and Carlos Rivas, 13:05.13.
Meanwhile, Gabriel Doyle clocked 12:12.11; and Emmanuel Doyle, 14:52.10, to complete the list of cyclists in the Time Trial.
