Four national records fall at BASA Swimming Championships

Four St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), swim records went by the wayside, during the 32nd hosting of the Barbados Amateur Swimming Association(BASA) Aquatic Centre Invitational held from May 23 to 26, 2024.

Accounting for the records were Hazen Dabriel and Alex Joachim.

Dabriel is the new holder of the Boys 400m Freestyle in 4:41.29, upstaging Alex Joachim’s 2017 timing of 4:42.82.

Dabriel went better in the 800m Freestyle, as he smashed Cruz Halbich’s 10 year old mark of 10:43.93, shaving it to 9:53.28.

Likewise, Joachim took charge of the men’s 200m record timing of 2:03.29 to erase Kenale Alleyne’s 2:05.11.

Joachim also took the 50m Backstroke to 28.10s, bettering Matthew Ballah’s 28.78s, that was swam earlier this year.
