Jiandani delighted with WAA appointment

Sanjay Jiandani, president of the Archery Association of St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), is happy that he was appointed to chair the ethics committee of World Archery Americas and moreso, that he represents the English speaking Caribbean.

Jiandani’s appointment came on April 11, 2024, at World Archery Association’s General Assembly, held in Medellin, Antioquia, Colombia.

Expounding on his appointment, relative to the Caribbean’s representation, Jiandani said: “ World Archery Americas has a lot of Spanish speaking persons on the executive, and on the contrary, very few English speaking nations. Therefore, my selection to chair the ethics committee gives a voice to one more small Federation, like St Vincent and the Grenadines, as well as English speaking Federations, which in some small measure will improve the parity”.

Other than his appointment, Jiandani was specially lauded for his initiative that saw the establishment of a Remote Caribbean Development Archery League (CDAL).

At the forum, World Archery Americas General Secretary, Sergio Font, highlighted the undertaking of Jiandani for crafting the inaugural CDAL.

Archery is the newest sport to St Vincent and the Grenadines, having been inducted into World Archery in 2021.
