Kirtney Franklyn, lone Vincentian in Windwards Under-19 Cricket squad
Kirtney Franklyn is the lone Vincentian named in the Windward Islands squad for the West Indies Rising Stars Under-19 Tournament set to be held here in St Vincent and the Grenadines later this year.
The versatile Franklyn, who is also the St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) Under-20 Football captain, retained his position as a fast bowler from last year’s team.
During the most recent Winlott Inc. Windwards Under-19 Cricket Tournament held in Dominica, Franklyn captured 12 wickets at a cost of 17.75 runs.
Selected as a bowler, Franklyn was the lone Vincentian batter to have scored a half century when he lashed 59 versus St Lucia in the second round of the competition.
The rest of the squad is Stephen Pascal (captain); Theo Edward; Divonie Joseph; Earsinho Fontaine; Stephen Abraham; Tarrique Edward; Kirt Murray; Kirsten Murray; Kervin Gassie; Jelani Joseph; Lee John; and Rickell Sylvester.
Three Vincentians- Kodi Grant, Watson Seaton and Devonte Mc Dowall, are the reserves named for the tournament, that is usually held in July/August.
