IT DAT Academy duo head to Louisiana Tech

Two members of the Integrated Team Developing Athletic Talent- IT DAT Academy, Tyhra Charles and Keo Davis, have been afforded full scholarships to attend the University of Louisiana Tech, in the USA, beginning later this year.

The duo, who will be completing their secondary education in June, 2024, were sought out after their continued improved performances on the track over the past two years.

Charles who is based in St Kitts and Nevis, is the St Vincent and the Grenadines Under-20 female record holder in the 200m, with a time of 23.87s. Davis became the National Under-20 male 200m title holder when he clocked 20.87s earlier this year.

Additionally, he is the 100m, 200m and 400m Intermediate record holders, as well as the senior record holder for the 100m and 200m at the Inter Secondary Schools Athletics Championships(ISSAC).

Another national record in Davis’ grasp is the Under-20 Male 4x100m mark, an accomplishment he shares with Timothy Williams, J’ Mar Saunders and AJ Delpesche.

Both Charles and Davis placed fourth in their individual events at this year’s Carifta Games held in Grenada over the Easter weekend. Charles in the Under-20 female 400m and Davis, the Under-20 Male 200m.

Likewise, both Charles and Davis have qualified for World Athletics Under-20 Championships, carded for Lima, Peru, in August, 2024.

When they embark on their new journey at Louisiana Tech, they will join another Vincentian athlete, Ulanda Lewis, who is also a student-athlete at that institution.
