Eighteen Athletes to Represent SVG at Junior Carifta Games
Team Athletics SVG, the governing body for Track and Field here in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), has announced a contingent of 18 athletes and three officials for the 51st hosting of the Carifta Games, set for the Easter weekend, March 30-April 1, 2024, at the Kirani Athletics Stadium, Grenada.
The team of athletes shows 10 debutants, inclusive of six who will compete in the Under-17 age category.
The newbies in the Under-17 are: males- Christian Joseph and Jahda Greaves ( Shot Putt); Jeremy Martin and Matthew Robinson ( Triple Jump); as well as two females in Kesiann John ( 1500m); and Shykeima Francis( 400m).
Meanwhile, four first timers- three males and one female, are in the Under-20 age category. The males are Matthew Robinson ( Octhalon); Timothy Williams, who will contest the sprint relays; J’ Mar Saunders (100m and sprint relays); and female,Tocarra Barbour( Discus).
The new faces are joined by eight who have been there before.
Among them are Jahieme Williams who is down for the Octhalon; Keo Davis( 200m and sprint relays); AJ Delpesche (400m and sprint relays); Devonric Mack( 400m and sprint relays); Zichri Hepburn, and Henree K Francois (5000m); as well as Tedre O’ Neil ( Pole Vault).
The other is female athlete Thyra Charles who is listed to compete in the 200 and 400m.
Making up the Vincentian management team are Jacintha Ballantyne , who is the head of delegation; Michael Ollivierre- head coach and Wildanrick Samuel – assistant coach.
