Young Table Tennis players win seven titles at Grenada Invitational

Vincentian Table Tennis players bucketed seven titles at the LQ Sports Classic Invitational Junior Tournament in Grenada that ended on Saturday March, 9, 2024.

Loukhya Premraj won the Under 13 and 15 Girls titles. Premraj had it all her way in the round robin formats.

She beat Eliz Charles of Dominica, 11/1, 11/6 and Jakaila Hoyte of Barbados, 11/1, 11/0, to cop the Under-13.

The tale was similar in the Under-15s, as Premraj defeated Dominica’s Donique Harriette 11/6, 11/4, before administering an 11/4, 11/3, 11/0, beating on Shania Hoyte of Barbados.

Meanwhile, Lamont Gregg trounced Jonique Mark of Grenada, on his way to claiming the Boys Under-15 title. The scores were 11/9, 12/10, 10/12,  11/7.

Likewise, Jessica Mc Carter won the Under 19 Girls title. In an all Vincentian final, she defeated Leah

Cumberbatch, 14/12, 11/9, 9/11, 8/11, 12/10. Mc Carter saw off Kayla Dubissette of Dominica 11/8 ,

11/1,11/8 in the semifinals, while Cumberbatch outlasted Grenada’s Annique Bonaparte, 12/10, 11/5, 12/10 in the other half of the elimination phase.

Also, Caleb Howard had the better of Cedric Marquis of Grenada 11/7, 12/10, 7/11, 5/11, 11/5, to take the Under-19 Boys title, 3:2.

Mc Carter and Cumberbatch teamed up to win the Girls Doubles; so too did Macahlie Hazelwood, who took the corresponding Boys title.

It was the third time in three years of the competition that St Vincent and the Grenadines has participated.
