Seishin dominates Karate Tournament

The Seishin Karate Club pouched all but three categories contested last Saturday February, 24, 2024, at the West St George Secondary School auditorium, when the club staged the 11th edition of its Karate Open Tournament.

Among the titles earned were the two claimed by Cayha Bascombe, who topped the 6- 8 Mixed Kata, and the 7-9 Mixed Kumite.

Liam Bollers champed the 9-10 Male Kata; while Amiyah Bascombe carted off with the 11-12 Female Kata and the 11-12 Mixed Kumite.

Joshua Greaves won the 11-12 Male Kata title; Aaron Mc Donald the 13-15 Male Kata; and Jamal Williams, the 16-18 Male Kumite.

To Seishin’s good as well, Donray Greaves, who was the lone competitor in the Para-kata category, won the Male 9-10; he was specially rewarded.

The other successful dojo was Dragon Ryu Karate Club, that won three titles.

Mwanza Hypolite won the 9-10 Male Kumite; Rishawn Roache took the 13-15 Male Kumite; and Shannon Joyette secured the 16-18 Mixed Kata.

The IKD Shotokan Karate Club, also sought honours in the tournament.
