Blue Marlins successfully defends Invitational title

Blue Marlins Swim Club for the second year in succession, has won the Gallagher Invitational Swim Championships.

Having won their maiden national swim title, Blue Marlins repeated the feat when the 2024 edition was staged at the Shrewsbury Aquatic Centre, February 22 to 25.

Over the four days of the championships, Blue Marlins registered an aggregate 1358 points, outstripping Black Sands Swim Squad, whose tally was 1113 points.

The visiting Sea Eagles Swim Academy of Barbados put together 302 points.

In the process, Blue Marlins had six individual age category titles.

The 9-10 Girls title was won by Skyla Byron who tallied 108 points, with fellow Blue Marlins swimmer, Saj Caesar claiming the Boys title with 88 points.

Moving up the age groups, Blue Marlins was also in control winning the 11-12 titles.

Belle Adams won the Girls, and Jadon Hamilton, the Boys champion, as they recorded 108 and 101 points respectively.

In the 13-14 age segment, Blue Marlins copped the two genders, with Tayeah St Hillaire taking the Girls amassing 100 points, and Hazen Dabriel, the Boys champion with 108 points.

Meanwhile, Black Sand Swim Squad bossed the 15 and Over category. Kennice Greene secured the Girls Division and Matthew Ballah, the Boys, as they each scored 93 points.

Black Sand Swim Squad took the Girls 8 and Under, with Ira Hadley, being the recipient; she tallied 88 points. In the Boys Division, Blake Graham of the Sea Eagle Swim Academy trumped with 87 points.

The two went on to be the Sprint Challenge champions in that age group.

Also doing the double were Belle Adams and Jadon Hamilton; they were the 9-12 age group Sprint Challenge champions, joining Kennice Greene, who champed the Girls 13 and Over.

And, Kenale Alleyne of the Black Sand Swim Squad was the Boys 13 and Over Sprint Challenge champion.
