Cyclists hit the roads

After two outings on the decommissioned E.T Joshua Airport Tarmac, local cyclists took to the roads on Saturday February, 17, and Sunday February, 18, as the 2024 St Vincent and the Grenadines Cycling calendar continued.

On Saturday morning, a Hill Sprint from Arnos Vale to the Belmont Look Out, was the first of the two-stage event.

First to reach the Look Out was Zefal Bailey in 17:52.40; second was Lucky Antrobus in 19:19.78; and completing the podium finishers was Sherwin James, whose time was 19:44.76.

The others to complete the 2.8 miles race were Steve Ollivierre (19:44.76); Deptor Culzac (20:11.06); Martin Bollers (24:43.85); Carlos Rivas (24:58.39); and Emmanuel Doyle (31:17.84).

Then on Sunday afternoon, it was from the E.T Joshua Tarmac to the Windward side of the mainland.

Category One and Two cyclists rode from the start point to Colonaire to finish at Argyle, with the lone Category Three cyclist, Emmanuel Doyle, reaching Bridgetown, Biabou and ending at Argyle.

Zefal Bailey took Category One in a winning time of 1:19.40.33, ahead of Sherwin James-1:20.48.03. Third was Max Alvis in 1:26.34.97.

Gabriel Doyle won Category Two in 1:27.24.97. Second was Deptor Culzac- 1:28.11.45; and third-

Carlos Rivas in 1:48. 21.49. Martin Bollers was the other Category Two cyclist to finish. He had a 1:59.28.33 clocking.

And, Juvenile cyclist- Emmanuel Doyle in a time of 1:15.24.11, won in Category Three.
