Paraguay and Peru capitals vie as Host City for 2027 Pan American Games

Following the opening of the candidature process for the 2027 Pan American Games by Panam Sports on January 5, two South American cities have met all the requirements and submitted their official interest in hosting the continent’s largest and most important multi-sport event.

Lima, Peru and Asuncion, Paraguay officially delivered all the requirements requested by Panam Sports by the January 31 deadline to enter the race to be the Host City of the next Pan American Games. Their candidatures include letters signed by the highest government authorities of the region and of the applicant city of each country, as well as a letter of intent from their respective National Olympic Committees approving their candidacies.

“We are very happy with the application by two of our continent’s great cities. Both met the requirements requested in this process within the stipulated period and in March, the General Assembly will have the opportunity to vote for the one it considers best to host the twentieth Pan American Games in history,” said Panam Sports President, Neven Ilic.

To determine the next Host City, the Panam Sports Executive Committee has organized an Extraordinary General Assembly to be held virtually on March 12.

During the Assembly, each of the candidate cities must make a 40-minute presentation before a vote will be held among the member countries of Panam Sports to decide the city that will hold the next edition of the continent’s most important sporting event in 2027.

The Pan American Sports Organization (Panam Sports) is the leader of sport and the Olympic Movement in the Americas (Panam Sports).
