Cyclists turn the legs to open 2024 season
Cyclists welcomed the start to the 2024 season when they touched down on the tarmac of the decommissioned E.T Joshua Airport, last Sunday January 21, a four race opener.
The races were for Juveniles, along with Category One and Two riders.
Among the Category One cyclists, Albert Quammie was first in the 10- lap race, nosing out Lucky Antrobus, and third was Rivas Young. Quammie went on to cross the end line first in the Sprint event.
Antrobus, though, finished ahead of Quammie in the three-lap race which was also opened to the Category Two cyclists.
Meanwhile, Peter Durrant won the 10- lap race in Category Two. Second was Deptor Culzac and third Martin Bollers.
When the Category Two cyclists contested the three laps, Bollers finished ahead of Culzac and Durrant in that order.
And similarly, the spoils were shared in the Juvenile category, as Emmanuel Culzac took the two-lap race, with Obediah Mayers champing the sprint. Culzac and Mayers were the two entrants in that category.
Cash awards were presented to those who made the podium positions.
