Jannilea Glasgow cops three accolades at SVGCA Inc’s Awards

Jannilea Glasgow was named the Geneille Greaves Youth Cricketer of the Year, as well as the Cinda Bobb Regional Female Cricketer of the Year and the joint Winston Davis International Cricketer of the Year, when the SVG Cricket Association Inc held its Annual Awards and Gala Dinner for its 2023 National Cricket season, last Saturday, January 13, at the Comsports Facility at Arnos Vale.

A West Indies women’s senior team member, Glasgow shared the International Cricketer of the Year Award with Obed Mc Coy.

Others awarded on the night were Kirtney Franklyn, who was named the Clarence Paddy Thomas, Male Youth Cricketer of the Year; Anicka Porter – Phernel Charles Local Female Cricketer of the Year; Dillon Douglas – Lance John Local Male Cricketer of the Year and Kenneth Dember – the Michael Findlay Regional Male Cricketer of the Year.

In the Women’s Super-40, Samantha Lynch of United Survivors scored the most runs (91) and was the Best All-rounder. Lynch added 2 wickets to her runs tally, while Anicka Porter of Northern Girls took the most wickets (6).

In the NLA First Division, North Windward Volcano’s Denson Hoyte scored the most runs (331), with Chelson Stowe of Bequia taking the most wickets (28) and North Windward Volcano’s Kirton Lavia, the Best All-rounder. Lavia scored 165 runs and took 18 wickets.

Taking the Zepton Greaves award for the Best All-rounder in the NLA Premier Division was Police Two’s Dillon Douglas. He amassed 320 runs and took 30 wickets to the good.

Flow Radcliffe’s Asif Hooper took the most scalps (45) and Hyron Shallow of Carlos Veira Rivals scored the most runs (483).

United Survivors won the Women’s Super-40, while Carlos James MSDA Julius Anthony Northern Girls placed second.

Winning the NLA First Division was Smashers ahead of North Windward Combine, and Flow Radcliffe took the Premier Division, with Police Two placing second.

Also, at last Saturday’s Awards Ceremony, two retired umpires, Ivan Eddie Williams and Dillon Child, were specially recognized for their contribution.
