Seven years ago, when Xavique Cyrus left St Vincent and the Grenadines for the USA, he had two CXC CSEC subjects. Today, he is the holder of two Associate Degrees and a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology.
Cyrus was born in Orange Hill, but grew up Georgetown, here in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
He graduated December 8, 2023 from the University of Texas, with his Bachelor’s degree.
Grateful that he has made full use of what he deemed a “second chance”, Cyrus aims for more academic and personal accomplishments.
“Some people say opportunities come once in a life time, but I believe creating your own opportunities … I had asked God for a second chance and with that second chance I made that vow to make the best of it”, revealed the 31-year-old Cyrus.
Outlining his immediate ambitions, Cyrus advanced, “My next goal is to gain a Master’s degree, start my own business and keep elevating myself…Life is what you make it and I am going to live the best life there is”.
Before migrating to the USA, Cyrus dabbled in Athletics, representing local clubs X-Cel and IT-DAT Academy.
Whilst he still did some competitive Athletics in his adopted home, Cyrus focused on making up for lost time by enrolling Tyler Junior College and Texas College, where he pursued his educational ambitions.
Proud of himself and his achievements thus far, Cyrus holds the country of his birth dearly, and credits all those who “tried” with him in his childhood, adolescence and young adult years.
