Vincentian tops regional Cricket Umpires exam

Vincentian Olanzo Billingy attained the highest mark of 96.66 per cent in the West Indies Cricket Umpires Association 2023 Practical and Oral Level 3 Examination.

Three other Vincentians – Andy Baptiste – 94.20 per cent, Shavorne Clarke – 89.20 per cent and Whitfield Hastings – 85.16 per cent, were also successful.

The candidates from the Windward Islands, comprising St Vincent and the Grenadines and St Lucia, obtained 100 per cent passes.

Fifty candidates across the territories completed the Level 3 Examination with 42 attaining the required pass mark of 80 per cent, representing an 84 per cent success rate.

Meanwhile, Vincentian – Afron Byam has been confirmed as member of Cricket West Indies Junior

Panel of umpires.

Byam began his umpiring career in 2014. He passed the local exams in 2015 and was successful in the

West Indies Umpires Examination in 2016. He officiated in his first tournament also in 2016.
