Vincentian named on Caribbean Queen Rugby outfit

Vincentian Kennisha Castello is part of the Caribbean Queen rugby team that will compete at World Sevens tournament in Grenada this weekend, December 1 and 2, 2023.

As such, Castello becomes the first Vincentian female player to be selected on the prestigious regional outfit.

Castello, who hails from Glenside, Mesopotamia on mainland St Vincent and the Grenadines, will join players from Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica and St Lucia.

Welcoming the historic opportunity, Castello is embracing the occasion gleefully.

“It is an incredible honour and privilege to be selected as part of the Caribbean Queen rugby team for the World Sevens tournament. I am tremendously proud to represent St Vincent and the Grenadines and the entire Caribbean region. This journey would not have been possible without the unwavering support from my coaches, teammates, and the rugby community at large. I hope that my participation inspires more young girls to pursue rugby and dream big”, Castello expressed.

Meanwhile, a release from the St Vincent and the Grenadines Rugby Union, underscored the significance of Castello’s accomplishment.

“Castello’s inclusion in the team’s roster for the World Sevens tournament marks a significant milestone in the history of Vincentian women’s rugby”, stated secretary of the union – Nyoka Harry.
