Sunday Sweaterz take Seven-A-Side Independence Cup

A Lerone Isaacs strike handed Rockstone Sunday Sweaterz the champions trophy, $2200 and bragging rights for the next 12 months for winning the Comsports/ BDO Vincy Masters Independence Cup.

Isaacs’s goal separated his team from Roger’s Photos Older Boyz, when the two duelled last Sunday evening, October 29, at the Comsports Sports Facility, Arnos Vale.

The two teams emerged from the semi-finals, played earlier that day, with Sweaterz defeating Largo Height 2-0, and Older Boyz ousting South Leeward, 3-1.

Largo Height Masters went on to cop the third spot, as they eased past South Leeward Masters, 2-0.

In the awards ceremony that followed, Sweaterz’ Lennox Fredericks was adjudged the MVP of the competition.

For his five goals, Largo Height’s Emery Bailey secured the most goals accolade.

Meanwhile, second place – Older Boyz’ received a trophy and $1200, while Largo Height pocketed $600.

Sion Hill Masters, Hope International Masters, North Leeward Masters and La Clery Masters of St Lucia completed the participating teams, comprising players who are over the age of 40.

Hope International won the inaugural Seven– A– Side competition last year, with Sion Hill docking second.
