Quartet highlight HKF National Championships

Liam Bollers, Aaron Mc Donald, Donray Greaves and Desmond Cox made the highlight reels, when the Hairouna Karate Federation (HKF) hosted its National Championships last Sunday, September 24, at the West St George Secondary School’s Auditorium.

Bollers, competing in the Male Under-10 Kata event, trumped the title.

Meanwhile, Mc Donald pouched the Male Under-14 Kata, to go with the Cadet title.

However, the HKF broke new ground when two karatekas – Greaves and Cox, both with physical impediments, performed in the Under-10 Male and Senior Male categories, respectively.

It was the first occasion that the HKF was presenting Para- Karate.

Other Winners

Cahya Bascombe took the Under-10 Female Kata; Amiyah Bascombe, the Under-14 Female Kata, with J- Don Matthews, Junior Females Kata, Terrance Providence, scalped the Under-21 Male title and Claude Bascombe Jr. made his way to the top in the Senior Male Kata.

Then, in the Kumite, the winners were Xonte O’ Brien- Male Under-10; Malik Mc Kie, Male Under-14; Rudino Roberts – Male Cadet, Jamal Williams – Male Junior, with Rishaud Roache winning the Male Under-21 and Claude Bascombe Jr., the Senior Male.
