Vincentian named in Concacaf’s Best XI
A goal versus Belize and 11 steals in two matches have landed Marlon Simmons a place in Concacaf Nations League’s Best XI of League B.
Simmons is therefore the lone Vincentian to be named in the XI, based on statistics.
A steely midfielder, Simmons scored the equalizing goal in the 51st minute that enabled St Vincent and the Grenadines to go to beat Belize, 2-1 on September 8 in Martinique.
Simmons was also pivotal in is team’s 4-3 win over Bermuda, on September 12, played on Vincentian soil, the Arnos Vale Playing Field.
Completing the League B selections are Vino Barclett of St Lucia (goal keeper), with Alvinus Myers- St Lucia , Oscar Acevedo- Nicaragua and Noeh Hernandez- Puerto Rico, the defenders.
The other midfielders named to complement Simmons are the Puerto Rico duo of Joel Burgos and Gerald Diaz, and Gregson President- St Lucia.
The strikers selected are Omari Glasgow- Guyana , Dominic Poleon- St Lucia and Ange -Freddy Plumain – Guadeloupe, as a 3-4-3 formation was the choice of the adjudicators.
