Maloney resets her national 800 m record

Shafiqua Maloney last Friday, August 4, reset the St Vincent and the Grenadines women’s 800 m record when she timed 1:59.94 at the Ed Murphey Classic held at Rhodes College, Memphis, Tennessee, USA.

Maloney, 24 thus removed the previous best time of 2:01.58.

Last Friday’s run comes off the heels of her bronze medals at the Central American and Caribbean Games in El Salvador in July.

Her medal came from her 2:04.98 clocking in the two-lap event.

Based in the USA, Maloney is also the St Vincent and the Grenadines indoor 800 m record holder and among the four who own the National Under-20 and senior 4 x 400 m records.
