Twelve teams set for MFA Easter Primary Schools Cup

Twelve schools will contest the second edition of the Memorial Funeral Home Marriaqua Football Association (MFA) Primary Schools’ Football Competition, which kicks off next Monday, April 3, at the Cane End Playing Field.

Heading up Zone A is inaugural champions Greiggs Primary, along with Richland Park Government; Richland Park SDA; Marriaqua Government; Cane End Government; and Biabou Methodist.
Making up Zone B are the Lauders Government; Brighton Methodist; Lowmans Windward Anglican;

Belmont Primary; Argyle Primary; and the Evesham Methodist.

President of the MFA Yosiah Dascent, told SEARCHLIGHT that following the successes of last year’s first competition, it was the overwhelming decision to continue.

“ We had great reviews from the schools’ principals, from the parents, the players, persons within the various communities and the sponsors – Memorial Funeral Home, so we are continuing the competition”, Dascent said.

He also noted that because of the response, they had to include schools from outside the Marriaqua Valley and its immediate environs, hence the participation of the Biabou and Brighton Methodist Schools.

The MFA president was especially high in praise for the title sponsor.

“ We from the Marriaqua Football Association, are extremely grateful for the input of the Memorial Funeral Home, for their support and sponsorship… We are indeed indebted to their contribution in providing a meaningful outlet for the students to pass their Easter break from school.”

Monday’s opening is set for 9:30 a.m, with the opening ceremony and march past of teams.
